The Davidson Lands Conservancy is pleased to welcome three interns who will be working with us this summer.

Intern 1 Intern 2 Intern 3
Sam Farson is a rising junior at UNC Chapel Hill, majoring in geography with a minor in history. He has lived in Davidson with his family since 2006. He enjoys hiking, camping, playing basketball, and hockey. Sam will be working with our new data management software, among lots of other things in the DLC office this summer.
Gray Stanback is a Davidson native and rising junior at Guilford College. Gray has worked at the Davidson Public Library and the UNC-Charlotte Botanical Gardens in the past. He is particularly interested in biology and natural history, writing (both fiction and non-fiction), and the history of aircraft and aviation. He will be writing a blog for the DLC website this summer as well as working on the next booklet (on insects) in our “Davidson’s Backyard” series.
Justin Leonard has worked with the DLC for several summers, and we are so glad that he is back again this year.  He earned his undergraduate degree in Outdoor Education and Environmental Studies through Montreat College, and then an M.A. in Community-based Conservation through Prescott College in Arizona.  He moved back to NC in 2006 when he began work as a NC State Park Ranger. For the last seven years, Justin has been teaching middle-school science full-time, as well as working as an adjunct biology instructor for Mitchell Community College.  He lives in Statesville with his lovely wife and two young daughters (ages 8 and 5).
We are so glad to have all three of these folks with DLC this summer!
